55 Intense Blow Job Techniques That'll Make Him Melt
22 min read
Knowing the strongest blow job techniques for pushing your man into total orgasmic bliss matters if you want him hopelessly hooked on you… or on any man you're pleasuring, really.
That's exactly what this chapter of the Blow Job Guide covers: 55 of my most effective blow job techniques.
This is Chapter 3 of the Blow Job Guide — you can revisit Chapter 1 here and Chapter 2 here once you're through this one. Now let's dive into techniques that'll have your man's eyes rolling back and his toes curling from pleasure…
Lick, Lick, Lick It
Licking his penis is a powerful way to open a blow job. It works as a kind of oral foreplay, building tension until he's practically begging you to take him fully into your mouth — exactly the reaction you're after.
Licking is simple at its core: hold his penis in your hand and run your tongue over it. Starting at the base and working to the tip tends to work great. But that's just the beginning — there are several other licking approaches worth trying during a blow job:
Focus on the Tip – Research points to the glans, or head, of the penis [1] as the most sensitive area, particularly its underside [2], though sensitivity there may be a bit lower if your man is circumcised. The frenulum — where the head meets the shaft on the underside — is also extremely sensitive. Some studies, though, find the entire glans is uniformly sensitive rather than having one especially responsive spot [3].
Try licking just the tip with the lightest touch you can manage. Many guys name this their favorite technique, and you could honestly stick with it for an entire session until he finishes. More on pleasuring the tip below.
The Topside of your Tongue – The top surface of your tongue delivers a bit more sensation than the underside, courtesy of the texture from your taste buds. Favor that side when licking him.
His Balls – Don't neglect his testicles. They're every bit as sensitive as his penis — sometimes more so for certain guys. A simple lick works, but there's a whole range of other ways to stimulate them for maximum pleasure here.
Anilingus – There are two more spots, beyond his penis and balls, that can seriously boost his pleasure and make him think you're a total oral sex expert, even though they're outside the scope of a typical blow job.
His perineum — sometimes called his taint, the textured strip of skin just behind his balls — along with his anus, is loaded with nerve endings. The base of his penis actually sits beneath this skin, behind the perineum [4, 5 p 24], so stimulating it here reaches that root. Some guys love having these spots licked and touched, others aren't into it at all — it's entirely a matter of personal taste.
Running your tongue over these areas, whether up and down or in circles, feels great for guys who enjoy it. You can even press your tongue slightly into his anus for a different but still pleasurable sensation. This move is known as anilingus.
Taint-To-Tip – If your man has a particularly sensitive perineum or balls, try slowly dragging your tongue from his perineum all the way up to the tip of his penis in one continuous, unhurried lick.
This is easiest when you use your hand — or even just a finger — to hold his penis flat against his belly.
One key thing to remember when licking him during a blow job:
Wetter Is Better
Ask any guy and you'll hear the same answer: a really wet blow job feels best. Ideally you'd be able to summon plenty of saliva on demand, though that's not always simple.
Two tricks for producing more saliva:
- Chew gum right before you start.
- Eat a juicy piece of fruit beforehand, like strawberry, pineapple, or peach. Related: pineapple can also improve how your vagina tastes and smells.
Of course, neither trick is always convenient.
A far more dependable way to keep things super wet is edible lube. Keep some within reach — a bedside drawer or your purse works well.
That way you'll also have lube ready if you need it for sex afterward.
Learn everything worth knowing about lube.
Deep Throating Solution – One fast way to generate lots of saliva is deep throating. Here's the mechanism:
When his penis reaches the back of your throat, it triggers your gag reflex, which prompts a quick rush of saliva. So if you're both into deep throating, this doubles as a technique for giving him a wet, sloppy blow job. More on deep throating in Chapter 7.
Just The Tip
As mentioned, the tip of his penis — the glans — is by far his most sensitive area, especially the underside. The clitoris is considered the female counterpart to the penis [6, 7]. So concentrating your attention there is a solid way to push him toward an intense finish.
There are several techniques for pleasuring just the tip.
Kissing – Kissing the tip is a great way to open your blow job and stretch out the experience — ideal if you enjoy watching (and hearing) him squirm. It's just like kissing his lips, applied elsewhere…
- Pucker up and give him light little pecks.
- Part your lips slightly and gently squeeze the tip between them.
- With saliva on your lips, glide them softly over his penis.
- Use your lips to gently suck at the top of his shaft.
The Twister – With plenty of saliva and your tongue, try what I call the Twister. Hold his penis steady with one or both hands and trace slow circles around the tip with your tongue. Change direction and pace for variety — this technique alone can be enough to send him over the edge.
Deep Throat – This is a more advanced move, but done right, it delivers serious satisfaction thanks to the sensations at the back of your throat. As you take him deeper, your tonsils and throat eventually make contact with the tip of his penis.
The slight spasming from your gag reflex adds an extra layer of stimulation, on top of your tongue and mouth working his shaft. Learn more about deep throating in Chapter 7 of the Blow Job Guide.
The Tip Of The Tip – Some men have a sensitive urethral opening — that tiny slit at the very top where ejaculate exits. Try a gentle lick there and watch his reaction. Some guys love it; if he doesn't seem into it, just move on to something else.
Slip Inside – A less intense alternative to deep throating that still delivers strong pleasure is using the inside of your cheek. Take him into your mouth and press or rub the tip against your inner cheek and tongue for another trick in your arsenal.
Use The Roof – Building on that idea, there's another spot worth trying: the roof of your mouth. It might not seem obvious, but it works surprisingly well.
The ridges there create a great texture when you angle his penis so the top of the glans runs along them. If size or angle makes this awkward, or risks scraping him with your teeth, skip this one.
Fingers & Hands – Using your hands isn't technically fellatio, but it's a great way to rest your mouth and jaw. With saliva or lube, gently run your fingers back and forth over the tip and listen to him groan. Find more hand job techniques in our in-depth Hand Job Guide here.
The Up & Down
Nearly every guy fantasizes about receiving a blow job — 87.6%, to be precise [8]. If you're not feeling super confident yet, my advice is to start with simple, reliable techniques like the Up & Down.
Getting comfortable with this first sets you up nicely before moving on to more advanced moves, like proper sucking (tips for sucking him like a pro here).
To perform the Up & Down, take his penis into your mouth and form a snug "O" shape with your lips around it. That shape lets you apply even pressure all the way around.
From there, simply bob your head up and down, taking him in and out of your mouth. This is easy to start with if you focus on just the top inch or two. As you get more comfortable, gradually take him deeper with each pass to stimulate more of his length.
Going deeper does raise the chance of triggering your gag reflex [9]. Try not to stress about it — it's completely normal, and most guys won't mind a little gagging.
Note: There's a ridge where the head meets the shaft that's especially sensitive. Try focusing your lips there while forming the "O" shape.
Concentrating on this spot also means you're only taking the first inch or two into your mouth, which keeps gagging less likely. If you feel it coming on, it's totally fine to pause, breathe, and relax your throat.
2 Tongue Tricks
Here are two more techniques centered on your tongue. One's simple, the other takes a bit more finesse but pays off big for your man.
1. Soft Sandpaper – Don't be thrown off by the name — this feels fantastic, not abrasive. I call it "Soft Sandpaper" because your taste buds create a texture similar to polishing with sandpaper, though the resemblance ends there.
Start by holding his shaft firmly, wetting your tongue thoroughly, and sticking it out.
Then…
Keep your head and tongue still, and use your hand to guide the head of his penis over your tongue. The only movement should come from your hand — your tongue stays put.
That way, his glans glides directly across your tongue's surface.
Move it however you like — circular, up and down, side to side.
Essentially, your tongue is "polishing" the head of his penis.
2. Sliding Shaft – For this one, take him as deep as feels comfortable and hold steady there — anywhere from 2 to 6 inches works, as long as it's comfortable to maintain.
Then…
Position your tongue against the underside of his shaft and slide it forward as far as comfortable, then back again. Keep repeating this forward-and-back motion, working the same stretch of his shaft.
Throughout, keep his penis in the same spot — don't go deeper or shallower, just hold position.
Sliding Shaft won't necessarily send him over the edge instantly, but it's a nice way to mix things up and introduce a new sensation.
BJ Techniques When He's Uncut
Most of the techniques above work great for circumcised guys. Some transfer just fine to uncircumcised men without adjustment, but others need tweaking, and a few won't apply at all.
No need to stress, though — there are techniques designed specifically for uncircumcised guys. The key difference is the extra foreskin, or prepuce [10, 11], which partially or fully covers the glans. Since circumcision "involves division of the frenulum and excision of the entire foreskin covering the glans" [12], most circumcised men are missing both structures.
Pull it back – Foreskin tightens during erection, though how much varies from guy to guy — you'll need to get a feel for his particular anatomy. Some men's foreskin stays quite snug when erect, leaving little room to move.
But not too much – This may sound contradictory, but pulling the foreskin all the way back can actually be uncomfortable for some men. You don't need to pull it as far as it'll go — just enough to expose part of the head. Stimulation through the foreskin alone won't register much, so pulling back gives you direct contact with the glans.
Switch it up – With the foreskin pulled back, you can zero in on the tip techniques covered above, though this intensity can become too much for some uncut guys. Interestingly, research suggests circumcised men are less likely to ask a partner to ease up [13], wanting more stimulation overall — although partners don't always notice a sensitivity difference [14]. Since foreskin makes an uncut glans extra sensitive, let it slide back into place from time to time to ease off.
Use the foreskin – You can stroke the foreskin directly over his glans, which feels amazing for a lot of uncut men — and it gives your mouth a break, too. It's also a nice way to dial back stimulation and stretch out the experience.
Swirl your tongue – When you go back down on him, leave the foreskin in place and slip your tongue between it and his glans. Give it a few swirls — he'll love it. Roll your tongue as you ease the foreskin back off.
Suck and squeeze, gently – With an uncut guy, you can orally stimulate the foreskin along with the glans and shaft — a technique that'll set you apart from partners who aren't sure how to handle an uncut penis. Gently suckle and squeeze your lips around the foreskin, starting light and building intensity slowly.
Every guy has his own preference for pressure and foreskin attention, so it's worth just asking him directly. Learn more in our detailed guide to sexual communication.

Anal Action
His backside is loaded with nerve endings — thousands of them — and it's practically asking for attention. That makes your blow job the perfect moment to introduce anal play, potentially tripling his pleasure.
Here are a few ways to fold anal touch into oral sex.
Rubbing his perineum – I've already touched on stimulating this area during a blow job. It's straightforward: trace it with your fingers, tease it, or press firmly or gently depending on what he likes. Some prostate toys even come with an external arm for taint stimulation.
Teasing his asshole – Try lightly tracing your fingers over it, maybe drawing small circles. This is a good way to gauge his reaction — like you, he might love anal attention during oral sex, dislike it, or feel neutral about it.
If he's into it, keep going. A bit of lube or saliva helps things glide.
Fingering him – Taking things further, you can begin penetrating gently with a finger, moving it in and out.
Prostate Pleasure – One more step is penetrating about two inches deep and stimulating his prostate — often called the male G-spot. Keep your fingertips and palm against his perineum, slide a finger in, and curl it toward his penis once you're about two inches in.
You'll feel a soft, spongy bump — that's his prostate. Stimulate it the way you'd stimulate your own G-spot, with gentle pressure and rubbing.
You can even use a toy on his prostate while your mouth stays busy elsewhere.

Pulling out during orgasm – Leaving your finger in as he climaxes lets you feel his ass pulsing rhythmically. Some guys love that clenching sensation during orgasm; others prefer something different…
Slowly withdrawing your finger as he comes.
The only real way to know his preference — finger in or slowly pulling out during climax — is to ask, though experimenting with both is the fun way to find out.
Lube and nails – Always use lube for anal penetration, and keep your nails trimmed or filed so you don't accidentally scratch him. Lube matters here especially since the anus doesn't self-lubricate the way a vagina does.
Triple Trick
My go-to power move is what I call the Triple Trick.
It's not overly complicated, but it does take some coordination. Here's the breakdown:
Part 1 – Take the head of his penis into your mouth and start the Twister motion (covered above).
Part 2 – Simultaneously, wrap one hand around his shaft and stroke him while continuing the Twister.
Part 3 – Slide a lubed finger into his ass and begin massaging his prostate.
You're running all three techniques at once, which does require some multitasking, as noted.
And that's the recipe for tripling his pleasure 🙂
Enjoying Yourself & Putting On A Show
You know that satisfying rush of watching your man lose himself in pleasure, right at the edge of orgasm?
It's incredibly hot.
Here's a secret: most men feel exactly the same watching you.
They love seeing you enjoying yourself.
Keep that in mind next time you go down on him. If pleasure comes naturally to you during it, great! But there are other ways to lean into that further.
Try masturbating while you give him head.
This does a few things at once:
- It gives him a visual show (most guys are turned on by that).
- It shows him how much you're enjoying this, which flatters his ego.
- You get to orgasm too!
Suck On This
A powerful — if occasionally exhausting — move is simply sucking. You're obviously not trying to draw semen out that way, that's not how it works! Instead, wrap your lips around him and take the first few inches into your mouth.
Then suck gently. This presses your lips and the inside of your mouth softly against his shaft and head, stimulating his whole length. You can move him in and out while doing this for full coverage.
Add variety by working your tongue in at the same time. Beyond that, it's really just steady sucking combined with in-and-out motion.
1,114 Woman Study: Do women enjoy giving blow jobs?
69
I'll keep this brief since there's an entire guide dedicated to 69ing.
As you likely know, 69 is a great way to share pleasure and reach orgasm together.
But here's the most important thing to know about it…
The best version has him on his back with you on top — that way you're in control of depth.
When he's on top instead, he's the one calling the shots, which isn't ideal if you gag easily.
Check out the 69 blow job position guide for more.
Awesome Sauce
Repeating the same moves can get stale for both of you, so it helps to have some variety ready to go.
Some women assume switching things up requires an endless catalog of tongue and lip tricks. Not true — there are plenty of easier ways to spice up your blow job routine.
One option is what I call "Awesome Sauce" — adding something like maple syrup, chocolate syrup, cream, champagne, ice cream, or ice cubes into the mix. Here's how to use each.
Maple Syrup/Chocolate Syrup/Cream – These work great because they taste good and add a distinct new sensation. Just double-check warm chocolate syrup isn't too hot before using it.
Ice Cubes/Ice Cream – Cold isn't everyone's favorite version of Awesome Sauce, but it's still an effective way to keep him guessing.
Champagne – There's something undeniably sexy about champagne during oral sex. Next time you two have some privacy, slip into something nice, pop a bottle, take a sip, and go down on him with the champagne still in your mouth.
The bubbles add a new sensation, but honestly it's the whole vibe of a champagne blow job that makes it so arousing. Not a champagne fan? Fizzy soda works too.
Mints – Mint delivers a natural cooling sensation. Suck one down before you start so you're not juggling it alongside his penis in your mouth.
A bonus of having something tasty in your mouth: it masks the taste of his ejaculate when he finishes — handy if his taste isn't your favorite.
Pro tip: to avoid champagne dribbling out, stay positioned below him — kneeling while he stands works well.
Give Him A Hand
Your hands are a genuinely powerful tool during oral sex — and no, using them isn't cheating! In fact, combining hands with your mouth can amplify his pleasure significantly. Our in-depth Hand Job Guide covers the best techniques in detail, but here are three to try tonight.
Jerk & Suck – Stroking him while you suck maximizes stimulation. Take the first inch or two into your mouth, wrap one hand around the shaft, and combine the Suck On This technique above with a simultaneous stroking motion.
Time To Rest – If you're not used to giving blow jobs regularly, your jaw will tire fast. Letting your hands take over gives your mouth a break while he keeps receiving pleasure without interruption.
So when your mouth needs a rest, grip his shaft and stroke him for a minute or two before returning to oral. You'll find more great hand job techniques in the Hand Job Guide here.
Work His Balls – Another great move to weave in is working his testicles by hand — fondling, caressing, tickling, or gently massaging. Experiment to see what he responds to best. The testicle massage guide has more ideas.
Play Ball(s)
Speaking of his testicles — using your mouth on them is another excellent way to add pleasure. Whatever you'd do to his penis with your mouth generally applies to his balls too. The big caveat: testicles are extremely pain-sensitive, so go easy on pressure and definitely keep your teeth out of the equation!
Further tips: How to avoid using your teeth when giving a blow job.
Kiss His Balls – A simple way to test the waters is starting with gentle kisses — pucker up and give them a few soft, wet pecks.
Lick His Balls – Once you sense he's enjoying the kissing, step it up with gentle licking and massaging using your tongue. Keeping your tongue flat maximizes surface contact.
Suck His Balls – For more intensity, gently draw them into your mouth and massage softly with your tongue — softly being the operative word. More saliva makes it feel silkier; edible lube works well here too.
So: kissing, licking, even light sucking — a great move is gently taking one testicle into your mouth and softly licking and sucking on it.
As covered in Chapter 1 of the Blow Job Guide, preferences vary by guy. Most love ball stimulation, but a smaller number aren't into it much at all — that's just personal taste. If your partner does enjoy it, trimmed hair down there makes things easier for you.
Use Toys
Don't hesitate to bring toys into your blow job — there's a lot you can do with them.
- Run a vibrator along his penis, balls, or ass while you suck him off.
- Slip a cock ring onto him. How to use a cock ring.
- Have him wear a butt plug or prostate massager during oral sex. Learn: How to use a butt plug.
- Use a vibrator on yourself at the same time and give him a show. Learn how to use a vibrator.

These are just a starting point for toys during oral sex — feel free to share your own ideas in the comments.
Eye To Eye: All About Eye Contact
Making eye contact while giving him head can feel deeply intimate, intense, even a little submissive.
Getting it right comes down to two things…
Too Intense? – If you're early in dating and go for ten straight minutes of unbroken eye contact during a blow job, that's going to feel overwhelming for most guys.
Tone it down instead — hold eye contact for just 2-3 seconds at a time.
Don't Force It – Just as important as not overdoing eye contact is not forcing it either. Awkwardly straining to maintain it can kill the mood instantly.
If your partner regularly looks away or seems uneasy when you try this during oral (or regular sex, for that matter), just drop it and try something else.
For Quick Comers/Cummers
If your man finishes fast, here are a couple of simple ways to draw things out.
1. Stick to techniques that don't push him over the edge – Sounds obvious, but it's easy to forget. As covered earlier, the tip is the most sensitive spot, so avoid it if you want to slow him down. Focus instead on his shaft, balls, perineum, and ass — areas less likely to rush him.
2. Light as a feather – Use minimal pressure if you want to delay his climax. He should barely feel contact when you take him in.
3. Take a break – Pause to caress him, kiss your way up to his nipples, or just kiss him if he'd rather not finish yet.
Two Steps Forward & One Step Backward
You know that delicious slow build toward orgasm, where your partner eases off just as you're getting close, then builds you right back up again? It's frustrating in the best way, and that drawn-out buildup makes the eventual climax so much more intense.
Why not put that to use here?
Next time you're going down on him, try pulling back for a minute or two and doing something else, like:
- Giving him a handjob (check our in-depth Hand Job Guide here).
- Playing with his balls (more tips on that here).
- Trying anilingus (read our detailed Anilingus Guide here).
- Simply kissing him (here's our kissing guide).
- Having sex (learn over 100 positions from our illustrated Sex Position Guide here).
- Or check out plenty more great sex techniques on the homepage.
Then return to the blow job after a few minutes. This variation keeps things fresh, and it intensifies his eventual orgasm. One caveat: keeping him aroused too long without release can cause blue balls [15], where his testicles genuinely start to ache.
Now it's on to finishing him off properly in Chapter 4. Chapter 4 covers everything about bringing him to a shaking, satisfying climax.
And if you want to nail the opening of your blow job first, check out Chapter 1 of the Blow Job Guide or Chapter 2.
