How To Do The Turtle Sex Position

Leg Glider Sex PositionLap Dance Sex Position

The Turtle sex position is a Doggy Style variation that calls for a touch of flexibility. It's a simple way to add variety with your man once regular Doggy Style starts feeling routine, but before you're ready to jump into other positions from our Sex Positions Guide.

To get into the Turtle, start on your knees on the floor or bed. Lower yourself so your butt rests on the back of your ankles, then lean as far forward as you can — grabbing your legs in front of you can help you lean further. Your man kneels behind you, penetrating you, and may need to adjust his height by spreading or bringing together his knees.

Her Role In The Turtle Position

In the Turtle, you'll find you can barely move at all. This is great if you enjoy your man taking control while you stay fairly passive. A nice feature of this pose is how submissive it can feel — learn more here. Your man can also bind your wrists to your thighs as part of a light bondage routine.

That said, you can gently push back against him if you like. One thing you do control is the penetration angle — adjust it by raising or lowering your upper body until you land on something you enjoy.

His Role In The Turtle Position

Your man does roughly the same thing here as in any Doggy position, like the Bassett Hound position — just thrusting forward and back. To help himself along, he can rest his hands on your waist or hips, or lean over and hold your shoulders. For a touch more kink, he can grab your hair (just make sure it doesn't hurt!).

More Tips For The Turtle

Having collected plenty of feedback on the Turtle, here's what to keep in mind for the best experience with your man:

  • Keep experimenting with your entry angle until you land on the most enjoyable one.
  • Your man can stand and crouch over you instead of kneeling, if he prefers.
  • Like all Doggy Style variations, the Turtle works great for anal sex too — make it a great first time with these tips.
  • If your knees are an issue, you might want to skip this one.
  • The Turtle is also an excellent position for overweight couples.

Sean's Thoughts On The Turtle Sex Position

The Turtle is fairly easy for both partners, making it a nice change of pace whenever Doggystyle or similar positions start feeling stale. One thing I've noticed: since you're facing the floor in the Turtle, it feels less intimate than many other "from behind" positions.
