92.6% Of Women Enjoy Giving Blow Jobs [1,114-Woman Study]
7 min read
We surveyed 1,114 heterosexual and bisexual women, all 18 or older, who had given at least one blow job, to answer one question:
Do women actually enjoy giving blow jobs?
The results were fascinating — and at times, genuinely disheartening.
We uncovered why women love (and sometimes despise) giving blow jobs, how long they'd prefer one to last, which positions they enjoy most, and whether they actually like swallowing at the end.
Here's A Snapshot Of Our Key Findings:
1. 92.6% of women enjoy giving blow jobs.
2. Yet 76.8% admitted to giving a blow job in the past that they didn't enjoy.
3. Feeling pressured or forced topped the list of reasons for a bad experience, cited by 43.4% of respondents. Other frequent factors: excess pubic hair, a partner taking too long to finish, and hygiene issues.
4. "I liked pleasuring my partner" was by far the most common reason women gave for enjoying their most recent blow job — chosen by 60.2%.
5. Women overwhelmingly prefer giving head with their partner lying down: 49.5% named this their favorite position.
6. Women overwhelmingly dislike the 69 position — 65.3% named it their least favorite position for giving oral.
7. Asked "how long do you like a blow job to last?", 40.2% chose "as long as my partner wants" rather than naming a specific time — by far the top answer.
8. Swallowing wins: 55.5% named finishing by swallowing their partner's semen as their favorite way to end things.
Note: Full methodology appears at the end of this study.
Most Women Genuinely Enjoy Giving Blow Jobs
Do women only give blow jobs out of a sense of obligation to their partner, rather than genuine enjoyment? We wanted to settle this long-running debate once and for all, so we asked a simple question:
Do you like giving blow jobs?
The answer was overwhelming: 92.6% said yes.
To double-check that result, we asked a related question later in the survey:
Did you enjoy giving your most recent blow job?
91.7% said yes.
Key takeaway: Most women genuinely enjoy giving blow jobs.
That said, this strong result comes with some important caveats, covered next.
Over Three-Quarters Of Women Have Had A Blow Job They Didn't Enjoy
It would be easy to misread our headline number (92.6% enjoy giving blow jobs) as meaning women enjoy oral sex in every situation, every time. That misreading could genuinely put women at risk.
So we followed up with this question:
"Have you ever given a blow job you didn't enjoy?"
The result was startling.
Most women have.
Despite 92.4% saying they generally enjoy giving blow jobs, 76.8% told us they'd been in at least one situation where they didn't.
That's a sobering statistic, but it pointed us toward the actual causes behind negative experiences…
Feeling Pressured Or Forced Is The Top Cause Of Bad Blow Job Experiences
We dug deeper to understand exactly what drives negative experiences for women giving oral sex.
Respondents could select multiple reasons, since bad experiences often stem from more than one factor. The results were clear:
Key takeaway: Feeling pressured or forced into it was the #1 cause, cited by 43.4% of women.
A few other notable factors also emerged:
- 35.4% cited a partner taking too long to orgasm.
- Poor hygiene (24.2%) and excess pubic hair (23.3%) ranked third and fourth.
- 20.5% pointed to gagging on their partner's penis — possibly while attempting deep throating.
- Penis size wasn't a major complaint when sucking a partner's penis. Just 7.8% blamed a large penis for a bad experience, while 9.4% blamed a smaller one.
The most surprising result in this section: only 5.3% blamed their partner finishing too quickly. Compare that to the 35.4% who blamed a partner taking too long.
If you have a penis, the lesson here is clear: erring toward finishing quickly, rather than dragging things out, tends to keep your partner happier during a blow job.
Other reasons behind negative experiences included not being in the mood, fatigue, lack of chemistry, a partner's erection issues, lockjaw, cramping, and nervousness — none individually breaking 5%, so we grouped them as "Other" in our chart.
Why Women Enjoy Giving Blow Jobs: Pleasing Their Partner Tops The List
We've covered the reasons behind bad experiences — but what actually drives enjoyment when giving a blow job?
For this question, we zeroed in on respondents' most recent positive experience specifically.
60.2% chose "I liked pleasing my partner" as their top reason for enjoying it. Other answers included:
- 21.2% said giving a blow job itself turned them on.
- 10% cited the feeling of power and control.
- 5.5% said they enjoyed feeling submissive.
- 3.1% gave other answers, including "feeling it grow in my mouth," "I LOVE the sensation of his member on my lips and tongue," and "all of the above."
The takeaway is clear: giving sexual pleasure is deeply satisfying for a lot of women.
Women's Favorite Position: Partner Lying On Their Back
Next, we explored what actually shapes a woman's enjoyment while giving — starting with blow job positions.
The answer was decisive. Nearly half of women (49.5%) chose having their partner lie flat on his back, with them positioned between his legs, as their top pick.
We didn't ask why directly, but a few likely reasons stand out:
- It's comfortable for both people.
- The receiving partner stays passive, giving the giver plenty of control.
- It transitions naturally into sex.
Kneeling while a partner stands or sits also ranked well. The 69 position wasn't especially popular, and positions with the receiver on hands and knees barely registered at all.
Women Overwhelmingly Dislike The 69 Position
With favorite positions established, we turned to the ones women like least when giving head.
The clear loser: the 69 position. 65.3% of women named it their least favorite for giving oral.
No other position came close to that level of dislike.
Kneeling while a partner stands came in a distant second, at just 13%.
Combined with the earlier findings, it's fair to say the 69 position simply isn't a favorite among women giving oral.
The Ideal Blow Job Length: However Long The Receiver Wants
Before running the full survey, we tested an open-ended pilot questionnaire. Many women didn't offer a specific time when asked how long they liked blow jobs to last.
Instead, most answered along the lines of "however long my partner wants it to last." So we built that directly into the main survey as an answer option.
Sure enough, 40.2% chose exactly that.
The next most popular answer was 5-10 minutes (28.1%), followed by under 5 minutes (11.8%), then 11-15 minutes (10.7%).
That top answer underscores just how much good sexual communication matters — talking with your partner keeps you both on the same page and genuinely satisfied, rather than guessing.
Women Prefer Swallowing Over Facials
To wrap up, we asked about how women prefer to end a fellatio session — and whether their preferences actually match what porn tends to depict.
Short answer:
They don't.
Women's top choice was their partner finishing in their mouth, followed by swallowing — 55.5% picked this. That's over 7 times more popular than finishing in the mouth followed by spitting, chosen by just 7.8%.
The second most popular option, at 19.8%, was finishing on the body.
Only 3.8% named finishing on the face as their favorite. Facials, it turns out, aren't nearly as popular in reality as they are on screen.
Conclusion
The overwhelming majority of women enjoy giving oral sex and enjoyed their most recent experience doing it (over 90% in both cases).
The leading reason (60.2%) is the simple pleasure of pleasing a partner.
Still, more than three-quarters of women have had at least one bad experience, driven by feeling pressured, a partner taking too long, or poor hygiene, among other factors.
We also found the 69 position is women's least favorite for giving oral, while a partner lying flat on his back is the clear favorite.
The top way women prefer to finish is by swallowing their partner's semen.
Methodology
We began by collecting basic demographics. Anyone who had never performed oral sex on a penis, and any non-female respondents, were disqualified. That left us with 964 heterosexual and 150 bisexual women over 18 (1,114 total), who then answered a range of questions about their feelings toward giving oral sex.
The survey relied on anonymous self-reported recollections. Participants were encouraged to answer honestly, but self-reported data always carries some risk of inaccuracy.
