Discovering The Octopus Sex Position

Chances are you've never come across the Octopus sex position before. That's actually a plus — it gives you and your man something entirely fresh to explore together. By the way, there are more than 100 positions in our Sex Positions Guide if you're hungry for more!
To try it, have your man sit on the floor and lean back slightly, propping himself up with his hands placed behind him. Spreading his legs will help him balance, and he should bend them a bit. Stand over him with a foot on either side of his waist and lower yourself slowly onto his cock. Once he's inside you, settle onto his lap and begin leaning backward, bracing your hands on the ground behind you. Once you're leaning back, lift your right leg onto his left shoulder, then your left leg onto his right shoulder.
Her Role In The Octopus Position
Holding this pose isn't easy, so don't be surprised if it wears you out fast. You can push yourself onto his cock during sex, but doing so will only exhaust you sooner — it's more efficient to let him handle the thrusting.
Leaning toward your man's body, or away from it, changes his entry angle and can help stimulate your G-spot. If you lean in, wrap your arms around the back of his neck to stay steady. If maintaining the Octopus for any real stretch leaves your arms feeling like jelly, try it beside a couch so your back can rest against it and take on some of your weight.
This can free your hands up to rub your clit or touch your man's chest.
His Role In The Octopus Position
Your man handles most of the thrusting here, so he should make sure his hands and feet have solid footing that won't slip. He can drive up and down with his hips while keeping the rest of his body steady, or rock back and forth using his arms and legs.
He may also find this pose tiring. If so, leaning his back against a couch or bed can take some strain off his arms.
This is also a great moment for some dirty talk between you two!
Notes On Trying The Octopus Sex Position
Drawing on stories from students who've tried the Octopus, plus my own experience, here's what to keep in mind:
- If neither of you is especially fit, you'll both tire out fast. More than one student has told me their arms felt like jelly within a minute. If you're not strong enough to do it exactly as described, set up a bed or sofa nearby to lean on and take weight off your arms.
- You may notice your man can't manage long, deep thrusts in this pose.
- The real appeal of trying the Octopus with your man is that he's almost certainly never experienced it before. Even if it's not the best sex position around, it's still a fun way to keep the bedroom interesting.

Sean's Thoughts On The Octopus Position
Personally, the Octopus isn't really my thing. It wears me out too much and doesn't offer a huge payoff for me. Still, don't rule out this lovemaking pose based on my opinion alone — give it a shot and judge for yourself.
