Most women have enough flexibility here to turn and face their man, adding extra intimacy. Meanwhile, he stays on his knees and enters from behind, essentially holding the same position he'd use for Missionary while you're the one on your side this time.

Her Role In The Flatiron Position

With your man positioned behind you, moving much is genuinely difficult, which makes thrusting back toward him tricky. That said, both hands stay free, so wrap them around his neck and back, or pull him in for a kiss. Adjusting your legs, drawing them closer to your stomach or straightening them out, lets you control depth, useful if he's on the larger side or if deep penetration is your thing.

His Role In The Flatiron Position

He'll be carrying most of the effort here. Staying on his knees, he can simply keep thrusting in and out, though that gets repetitive after a while. He'll also want to shift position slightly, moving a bit closer to your back or your stomach, until he lands on the angle that feels best for you.

Notes On Trying The Flatiron Position

I've discussed the Flatiron position with quite a few students. Here's what they've shared:

• Switching from standard Missionary into Flatiron is smooth and doesn't break the intimacy.
• You might not get much out of it until he experiments with different angles, shifting slightly left or right during penetration.
• It also works great for anal sex.
• Not especially flexible? It's fine to rest on your shoulder in this position, or even curl into more of a fetal position.

This one's great for couples who've gotten bored with standard Missionary. I'd strongly suggest trying both sides while in Flatiron. Plenty of the students I've talked to about it end up with a clear preference for one particular side.
